Field Trip Descriptions for the SEB 2025 Annual Meeting
On Thursday, June 12, 2025, conference participants will have the opportunity to enhance their experience by joining one of three unique excursions showcasing Czech culture, history, and gastronomy.
Each excursion has a maximum capacity, and participation will be on a first-come, first-served basis. We reserve the right to cancel an excursion if the minimum number of participants (20) is not reached. Please note that registration for field trips is mandatory and is paid separately from the conference registration fee. Registration details will be handled through the overall conference registration system.
Important Information
- Field trips take place between 12:00 PM and 8:00 PM.

Field Trip 1: Žatec – The Hop Region
Discover the World of Hops and Beer in Historic Žatec
Join us on a journey to the picturesque town of Žatec, renowned for its centuries-old tradition of hop cultivation.
Itinerary Highlights:
- Hop Museum: Learn about the history and cultural significance of hops in the Czech Republic.
- Malt House Gallery: Explore a Renaissance malt house showcasing the evolution of malt production.
- Hop & Beer Temple: Wander through a unique hop labyrinth and delve into the art of beer brewing.
- Beer Tasting: Enjoy a curated tasting of four Czech beers (1.2 dcl each) at the renowned "U Orloje" restaurant. Optional Czech delicacies like pickled sausages and cheese selections will complement your experience.

Field Trip 2: St. Claire’s Vineyard and Wine Production Exposition
Explore Czech Viticulture and Enjoy Fine Wines in Prague’s Troja District
Immerse yourself in the beauty of St. Claire’s Vineyard, a national heritage site nestled within the Prague Botanical Garden.
Itinerary Highlights:
- Vineyard Tour: Discover the diverse grape varieties cultivated in the Czech Republic, including table grapes and wine grapes.
- Wine Production Exposition: Visit the state-of-the-art cellar showcasing winemaking processes.
- Wine Tasting: Savor six exclusive wines crafted in the vineyard, paired with gourmet “tapas” and presented by an expert sommelier.

Field Trip 3: Slivovitz Museum
Experience Czech Culture Through the World of Slivovitz
Visit the Slivovitz Museum in the heart of Prague to delve into the history of this iconic Czech spirit.
Itinerary Highlights:
- Museum Tour: Enjoy an engaging guided tour featuring interactive exhibits, historical displays, and fascinating projections.
- 5D Virtual Reality Show: Experience a one-of-a-kind immersion into the world of slivovitz through virtual reality.
- Tasting: Sample slivovitz or opt for a non-alcoholic plum lemonade alternative.

- Maximum Participants: Groups of up to 12 people, with 2–4 groups possible.
- Duration: 1.5 hours (including travel time)
